Holiday Sneak Peek week - Day #5

Hello everyone!

I took a short break, but I'm back with the last few instalments of the Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek week! And do you know what the best part is? The NEW Holiday Catalogue goes live TOMORROW!!

I'm so excited I could burst. So, let me show you one of my new favourites. Typically I don't tend to by kits, but what I love about this one is that it's SO customizable.

These two cards were made using the Merry Little Christmas Simply Created Card Kit! It comes with enough supplies to make 8 beautiful cards - and it can be bundled with the Merry Little Christmas stamp set to save you 15%.

Lets check out some of the features. First up is my favourite part - envelope sleeves! These sweet pre-cut sleeves fit right inside envelopes to make a lovely little liner. The envelopes are supplied in the kit as well!

You can use these envelope liners for the envelopes themselves, or trim them down and use it as a panel for your card (card #1 above). I've only made these two cards so far with the kit, but my mind is racing with tons of possibilities (this kit would make a GREAT kit class as well!).

The stamp set on my first card is the oh-so-fun Wishing You stamp set. The stacked presents look great stamped in one colour, or for something a little extra, stamp them in a variety of colours, cut them out and then pop them up on dimensionals!

For my second card, I stayed more true to the "suggested" design, only changing up the stamp set. I don't know what it is, but I have this thing for these sketch-style Santas! This lovely bundle of merriment comes from the Santa's List stamp set, and is the perfect size for the banner element of these kit cards.

This kit features some really super Christmas colour; Real Red, Gumball Green and Coastal Cabana. I love that there is a nice blue thrown in there for a modern touch.

Don't pass these kits up! They are a great way to get some of the prep done for you, but still leave you lots of room to be creative! And at $11.95, you can't beat the price! The best part is, you can mix them up and add whatever stamp or embellishment you want!

Come on back tomorrow, I'll be sharing another Thanksgiving card and revealing the new catty in all it's glory! :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Sneak Peek Week - Day 4 & Dynamic Duos!

Hello!

Back with a double post today to share this week's fabulous Dynamic Duos challenge as well as the next sneak peek card.

First up, Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz for Dynamic Duos!

We went to the park back in May with my brother and his family and my hubby challenged my bro to a race. It's difficult to know who to cheer for when it's your brother and your husband! Derek came out the winner this time around, but I don't think that my bro will let that happen again ;)

Check out the challenge this week:

And now for another sneak peek from the Holiday catalogue.

I love the Color Me set. It's super cute for gift tags, cards where you colour it yourself, or cards where you let the recipient colour it, which is what I did here. I made a little 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" square card and used the scrapling left over to hold the crayons. This way, it can be mailed in a regular envelope, but when you remove the crayons it doesn't affect the overall look of the card.

I'm going to send this to my nephew this year for Christmas :)

I used the colours from Dynamic Duos for this as well - Garden Green core'dinations paper conveniently looks a lot like Pear Pizzazz on the inside. Score!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Sneak Peek Week Day #3 & The Friday Mashup

Well, it worked out wonderfully that Lisa has a "Christmas in July" challenge for us over at The Friday Mashup this week, since I'm still riding the high of my Holiday Catalogue Preorder :)

The background paper is the lovely Seasons of Style DSP. I opted for something a little more subtle from the pack - I loved the simply plaid.

The sentiment is from the Joy to the World stamp set - a beautiful all-sentiments set that's sure to cover you all season long! I finished it off with Cherry Cobbler 1" Stitched Edge Grosgrain.

On the inside, I stamped this gorgeous tree from Special Season and sparkled it all up with Silver Stampin' Glitter! I'm loving all this new stuff :)

I've been seeing cards like this all over the place and needed to try one for myself! The inside just pops up and shows an image behind it. So cool and so simple.

Check out the Mashup this week:

  2. Create a project with "Stripes".

Holiday Sneak Peek Week - Day 2!

Good morning!

Day #2 of the Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek week and I bring you a very simple Christmas card with a bit of bling.

I kept this card really simply. I really wanted to show off the sparkle and shine in the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper! This paper is so gorgeous, and takes advantage of all the amazing "blues" we have in the colour families. The two specialty papers have a bit of shine with nice silver accents.

To carry on with the silver theme, I framed the sentiment panel with Silver Glimmer paper and tied a very simple bow with the brand new Silver 1/8" Ribbon! I love the 1/8" ribbons - they are so easy to use and add a nice little touch to your projects. When it is silver, all the better! :)

One of my favourite embellishments from the new catalogue are the Frosted Finishes Embellishments. They lie nice and flat, so they are easy to attach to your project, and they are so elegant looking. With the lovely rhinestones in the centre, they add just the right amount of sparkle! I haven't tried to put one through the mail yet, but they are quite slim, so it may cause no issues.

And last but not least, the fabulously swirly and fun Best New Year stamp set! I can't wait to colour this, pop out certain words and play around with this stamp set to see all that can be done with it. It's small enough that it would make a fabulous gift tag, and large enough that it can be used at your main focal image for your cards.

Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek week!

It's time to start the 2013 Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek Week! Hurray! I really love doing these sneak peeks because I get to try out so much fun, new product and then share it with you :)

My favourite holiday (by far) is Thanksgiving. I love the weather, I love the family, and I love the food. I find we have a lot more traditions around thanksgiving than we do around Christmas, only because there is more time to relax and enjoy it.

So, I'm starting this week off with a sneak peek of a bunch of fabulous new Thanksgiving products.

I absolutely fell in love with the Truly Grateful stamp set. It has such gorgeous images (the wheat and the acorn) and a fabulous woodgrain/barnboard stamp which can be used to make backgrounds (if of course you're proficient with a Stamp-a-ma-jig!). Here I stamped the background with Sahara Sand on Soft Sky cardstock. I wanted it to be very muted.

The DSP is from the new fall pack, Sweater Weather - the colours in it are absolutely fabulous! I can't wait to be using more of this :)

One of the first things that stood out for me in the catalogue was the Burlap Ribbon. I can't tell you how excited I was to see this. For this card, I trimmed off the edging along the length of it and pulled a few strands out to rough up the edges a bit. I saved those strands for something else...

...tying together the wheat! I had initially used twine, but I loved the crinkle texture from the burlap strands and couldn't resist using those instead.

The Crushed Curry leaf is a die cut that comes with the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit, which gives you everything you need to make an a-m-a-z-i-n-g table setting for your Thanksgiving dinner. I'll be showing more from that kit soon enough!

The acorn is stamped in Chocolate Chip from the same set, Truly Grateful

And last but not least, you must be wondering about that paper that looks like Birch bark, right?! This is the absolutely to-die-for Birch Paper Ribbon that comes with the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit. I've cut them out using the Autumn Accents Bigz Die.

The wonderful thing about the Tablescapes set is that the die-cut leaves that are included match the leaves from the Autumn Accents Bigz Die - so you can mix and match to your hearts content. I was thrilled about this.

I hope you enjoyed the first sneak peek! Be sure to check back tomorrow for a brand new project! I've got lots to share :)

Thanks for stopping by!

BDay Under Construction!

It is card sketch week over at MDS Monday, and this week Joan has a super fun sketch for us!! I'm going to admit, I took a lot of creative license with this sketch :)

Here's my project this week using the oh-so-awesome Bday Under Construction ensemble. This is for my little man's birthday this year. JackJack is in LOVE with anything construction, so he's going to have a blast.

Check out the sketch:

The excavator is the main image and represents the largest diamond from the sketch - I rotated him a bit so that the boom mimicked the shape of the smaller diamonds. I had the bulldozer pushing 3 boulders around to make use of the three brads in the original sketch and I popped in some chevrons as tire tread in place of the ribbon.

Typically I don't show the inside of my cards, but I couldn't help if for this one :)

Grungy Butterflies on a Doily!

Hello friends!

I'm seeing so many pictures and posts from convention - can't wait until 2015 when I'm scheduled to go! hahaha...

Time to share a great new combo with you from Dynamic Duos this week, with a dessert option too!

I used the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge in the background and then laid a Tea Lace Doily (folded in half) over it. The postage stamps were punch out and popped up on dimensionals - I layered it with the Petite Curly Label punch and then topped it off with a butterfly punched out use the Butterfly punch (and of course, a pearl).

The sentiment was stamped onto Washi Tape and then I layered the washi tape over a piece of Whisper White - I ripped them together on the edge so that there was a little bit of white showing up behind the edge of the washi tape. I layered on white to make it stand out more - layering it straight on black toned it down way too much. Then I finished it off with some more pearls and a candy dot (who doesn't love these things!?)

Check out the challenge this week:

Zoo Babies!

A fun new challenge for us at The Friday Mashup! We have a great sketch from Heidi, and she's challenge us to use our favourite stamp set from the new catalogue.

I chose Zoo Babies. I fell in love with this set the second I saw it and have used it multiple times now. I stamped the giraffe in Crushed Curry and cut it out with the Oval framelit. Using the new stretched ribbon, I framed the oval and backed it with a larger oval of Baked Brown Sugar.

The embossing folder int he background is the super-fun stripes from the new holiday catalogue.... Excited?! :) Stay tuned for my sneak peek week coming up!

Touch a Truck!

Good Monday morning!

It's time for a new scrap sketch over at MDS Monday and I'm your hostess this week!

Last month my mother-in-law and hubby took the kids to a super fun event that runs here annually. The "Touch a Truck" event is hugely popular around here and gives kids the opportunity to get up close and personal with a lot of equipment and trucks that are otherwise not accessible to them.

This is a very simple page in that there are no 'tricks'; just straightforward embellishments and letting the pictures do the talking. I used a lot of chevrons, as you can see, as they always remind me of tire treads.

Check out the sketch:

Why don't you swing on by and come play with us? The challenge is open for two weeks and the rest of the design team has created some fabulous pages as inspiration.

Craft Project Central!

Hello everyone,

Check out these gorgeous projects over at Craft Project Central!

Designed by Monika
Make this cool little mini album out of one sheet of Designer Paper!  The size makes it perfect to take with you in your hand bag to show off your favorite pictures or tuck special notes in.  The decorated gift bag is the perfect way to present this sweet little album as is the matching card.  This project makes for a fun Stamp Camp or class project!

Designed by Niki
The new Tag a Bag gift boxes are great for gifts and treats but are so versatile that you can use them for many other things!  For this project the gift boxes are turned into organizational boxes to organize your Baker’s Twine and/or Washi Tape!  This project is a great class project as well!  Everyone will want to fill their boxes with new Twines and Tapes!

Designed by Regina
A mini travel album is the perfect way to save photos and memorabilia from a special trip and to keep special notes and give a written account of the events about the trip!  There is plenty of space for photos and journaling in this mini album, and there are pockets to hold memorabilia.  One thing that’s needed for ever trip is a suitcase, and this mini travel album has its own suitcase cover, which would be a perfect way to present the album to someone who is getting ready to take a special trip.  Several of these suitcases could be placed on a shelf and there’s plenty of space on the closed end of the cover to attach an identifying label!

Designed by Julie
Are you ready for summer?  This sweet little Beach Bag is comfortably packed with four By the Tide note cards.  It would make a great little gift to get anyone in the mood for summer!  Or host a class and invite some friends to come over and make the set with you! Project also includes instructions for the tag to put on a candy favor!

Please stop by their blogs and leave them some love on their fabulous projects.

Sweet Baby for Dynamic Duos!

This week at Dynamic Duos we are playing with my absolute favourite colour combo - Sahara Sand and Pink Pirouette.

These colours screamed baby to me, so I softened it up and went girly :)

I wanted to use the alphabet embossing folder, but I wanted it to be a little more subtle, so after running through the Big Shot, I ran my bone folder over it a few times to 'flatten' the embossing a bit. For the bottom, I cut strips of Pink Pirouette DSP and Sahara Sand cardstock (embossing with the Polka Dot embossing folder) and alternated them.

The lamb is stamped and then cut out using one of the fabulous new Chalk Talk framelits. The die cut was a bit big for my image (I thought) so I cropped it by running it through again and taking off about 1/4-1/2" of one side.

Check out the fab combo this week :)

We'd love to see you play along! Come out and check out all the other fab cards from the Design Team! :)

Natural Colour Combo at The Friday Mashup!

Good Friday morning, friends!

It's time for a fabulous new challenge at The Friday Mashup - Holly has an absolutely gorgeous colour combination for us, and has asked us to throw in a nature theme as well. Umm... OK!

As if the challenge wasn't awesome enough - wait until you see the inspiration photo. I took tons of inspiration from the photo and used it in my card.

The barnboard background was made by running a piece of Smoky Slate through the woodgrain embossing folder. I then cut vertical strips of approximate 1/2" and then willy-nilly horizontal snips. It's barnboard, there is no way it can be perfect :)

Those of you who have been around here awhile know that I love feathers. I opted for feathers instead of flowers in most of our wedding decor, and the Fine Feathers stamp set was the very first one on my list with the last catalogue.

I made this card while hanging out with a lovely friend of mine, so I snagged one of her embossing folders that I don't own. It's fun playing with other people's stuff - once you get over the "do you have this?" and "where can I find that?", hahaha.

Check out the challenge this week:
  1. Create a project using the colors "Pool Party, Crisp Cataloupe, Calypso Coral & (Smoky Slate or Soft Suede)".
  2. Create a project with a "Nature Theme"
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Nature Themed project using the Challenge Colors".

So, what do you think you'll make with these fab colours?

Digital Punch Art!

Since it's "Digital Tuesday", I thought I'd come back once more and share some more digital fun - digital punch art!

Ostrich
I used a 'real' punch art photo online as the source.

Lion
This one I used the one I had made a couple months ago for my "jungle-in-a-box" project.

I've been wanting to try digital punch art for a very long time now, and finally got around to doing it. I was rather surprised at how quickly these little cuties can be whipped up! The 'global search' feature and I became very well acquainted during this time too!
