Colour Me Playful!

Good morning - I'm trying to catch up on a few blog posts from the last week. What a busy one! We're redoing our floors at home and we're in 'go-mode' trying to get everything ready!

This week at Colour Me...! we are using Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black and Gold. Fun, eh??

Since the design team works ahead creating our projects, I'd been looking forward to this colour combo for weeks! But then, when I sat down to make it, my mojo and I got in a huge argument and it stormed off.. I will definitely be revisiting these colours when we're on speaking terms again!

Spring is Springing... sort of :)

I'm your hostess over at The Friday Mashup this week, and we're thinking about spring! We'd love to see your Spring projects, and if you're up for an added challenge, why not mash it up with oh-so-fun scattered embossing technique? You can check out a great video from Amanda Burditt.

I have used the Watercolour Wonder DSP for the background and the flowers, which I have punched out with the Petite Petals punch from SAB. The scattered embossing technique was done on the bottom panel with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and vellum.

CMCC#5 - Monochromatic with Purple!

It's time for a new colour challenge over at Colour Me...! We were so excited to see all the colour combinations last week, but now it's time to take it down to a 1-colour project again :)

For my card this week I started with a white background and added some Wisteria Wonder with some Gorgeous Grunge elements. I added the "Happy Day" from Happy Day and a few rhinestones.

The butterflies were punched out from the Elegant Butterfly punch in both Wisteria Wonder cardstock and Vellum. The vellum was then embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. Ta-da!

Saying Goodbye to Bashful Blue

Ok, it's official - I'm completely out of Bashful Blue. When I heard it was retiring, I used up every last scrap of it. The final piece I had stashed away went into this little love card for Dynamic Duos.

Butterflies for Dynamics Duos

Good morning,

Back to work today after a very lovely long weekend. But before I do, I wanted to share a card I made for the current Dynamic Duos challenge

Their colur combination this week was Primrose Petals + Our Choice! I find the "my choice" ones to be really hard! It's a big committment, trying to find only one other colour to complete your project ;) I finally decided on Perfect Plum.



Although it's hard to tell from the photo, the vellum butterfly is stamped with Illuminate ink, so it has a nice little sparkly to it.

2 out of 3 ain't bad!

It's time for another Friday Mashup, and Holly' got a triple challenge for you this week - The sketch, butterflies and your brayer! 

Unfortunately, I don't own a brayer, so I focused on the sketch and the butterflies. I wanted to add something a little extra to this card since I couldn't do that brayer part.

I layered a piece of Fan Fair DSP on another piece of vellum, which I had (tried to) distress. Just as an FYI , distressing vellum is a lot harder than you might think! Once these pieces were on my card base, I cut out an oval with the new Oval Framelits and then layered a Window Sheet behind it. On the inside of the card, I layered another piece of Vellum and heat embossed the oh-so-awesome flowers from Elements of Style in Pool Party. 

The sentiment is from Apothecary Art, and is Pool Party heat embossing on Vullem. The butterflies are punched out using the Elegant Butterfly punch and then embossed with the Polka Dot embossing folder. They are layered on another sheet of the Fan Fair DSP.

A new colour challenge at Sunday Stamps!

It's time for another colour challenge at Sunday Stamps!

These great colours are courtesy of the lovely Steph. And I sure did love them! But let me tell you how shocked I was to find that not only do I not have a Perfect Plum ink pad... I also don't have a Perfect Plum marker... or anything other than a lone sheet of cardstock! My use of colour was very limited for this one ;)

Notice how the butterfly looks like it's coming out of the Whisper White piece, and you can see the Perfect Plum in behind? I discovered that if you go to punch out your butterfly, but don't depress the punch all the way, it punches out only the wings and you can curl them up - the rest of the butterfly is still attached to the main panel. I fell in love... The rest of the card I just kept simple, since I wanted the words and the butterfly to really stand out.

White on White at The Friday Mashup!

Happy Friday!

This week at The Friday Mashup Erica has a fun sketch for us!

 

I wanted to stay (very!) neutral on this one, so opted with Vanilla on White ;) I added a bit of shimmer paint to the Crumb Cake butterfly and the edges of the strips of DSP. The background was embossed with the Argyle embossing folder, which I love, and then spritz witht he Colour Spritzer.
