Dynamic Duos #4

Good evening!

I'm back today with a card for the Dynamics Duos challenge #4. I'm so excited about this week's duo! Bashful Blue, although rarely used, is one of my favourite blues! It's so soft and sweet, and makes darling baby boy projects. I didn't do anything baby related this time, but I've used these two colours for my baby in the past (see kite below).

Home Sweet Home

This is my card for this week's challenge using Bashful Blue with Marina Mist (and my neutral is Sahara Sand - though it looks awfully Crumb Cake-y in this photo!)

The last time I put Bashful Blue and Marina Mist together was a little while ago to make this little kite decoration for my sons door. It's actually not that little, and we have yet to put it up on his door, but I was so happy with the results! I added Lucky Limeade and a splash of Calypso Coral to this one.

And just for fun, here's the recipient of this kite. I can't believe that my baby Jack is almost 9 months old!! Where does the time go...? And yes, he's playing with a pile of Stampin' Up! packing paper :)

Nautical Father's Day

Ah, Friday is here at last! :) Are you guys ready for a new Friday Mashup challenge?

This card is for my step-dad. He's a lover of all things really cool (ships, trains, Canadian history). It always amuses me that I have a lot of the same interests as a 70 year old man ;) Anyways, I knew I wanted to use the Nautical Expedition designer paper for this card - but I wanted to try and get away with not using The Open Sea stamp set (mainly because I don't have it yet, hehe). So, this was my compromise - a few simple knots (figure 8, to be exact) and a simple sentiment.

 For a child, losing their first tooth can be both exciting and scary! And for the parents, it’s another passing moment that signifies that your “baby” is growing up. This Tooth Fairy Door project is intended to help make the arrival of the Tooth Fairy enchanting and memorable for kids and their parents alike!

The Tooth Fairy door sits on the child’s nightstand, alongside the little bed and side table. On the bed, the child lays their tooth, and on the side table, they sign a “thank you” card. When they go to sleep, the Tooth Fairy has a way to enter quietly into their room, take the tooth and the card, and in place leaves a little gift of money or small toy. On her way out, she leaves the door a bit ajar, so there is no mistaking that she has been there!

 I designed this project with a few friends in mind. My little boy is a little ways away from losing his first tooth, but this little Fairy door is tucked away for when the big day comes!

Tui has a wonderful sketch this week at the Freshly Made Sketches! It was so much fun to work with. Check out all the gorgeous samples from the design team... I always love seeing so many different styles and designs showing up from the same sketch!

I do have a confession - it took me until this week to realize that the floral pattern in the Beau Chateau designer series paper is the same as the big floral stamp in the Elements of Style set. Did everyone else already know this?! haha

I was so fascinated by this discovery that I had to use them together for this sketch! ;)

Dyanmic Duo #3!

Yup, that's right, back again ;)

I finally got the chance to play along with the Dynamic Duos challenge this week, which was to create a card using Basic Black and Daffodil Delight. They were generous enough to offer us dessert, too! If you felt so inclined, use dry embossing on your project.

Friendship

I admit, I might have cheated a bit with the "dry" embossing, since I inked up my Elegant Lines embossing folder with basic black ink before I ran it through the Big Shot. But I've been dying to try this, and it was the perfect colour combination to do it with!

Hope you enjoying your weekend so far. It's so beautiful around here! Derek and I played a couple games of badminton yesterday and I'm itching to get out and play again :) We played three games, and I only won one, so I think it's important that I redeem myself!

Freshly Made Sweets

Let the fun begin!

Hello! And welcome to my first post as an official designer for the Friday Mashup :) This week, Lisa has come up with a challenge that is very close to her heart. Please read on here.

Here in Canada we don't recognize Memorial Day*, instead we have Remembrance Day, which is observed on November 11th (official end of World War I on that date in 1918). That being said, Lisa's challenge this week is no less important because I'm a little north of the border.

So Grateful

Our challenge this week was to:

1. Make a project that's "Patriotic or for Remembrance".
2. Or Make a project with the colors " Whisper White, Night of Navy, Poppy Parade & Daffodil Delight."
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Remembrance or Patriotic project using the colors above."
4. Donate your card to a Wounded Solider or that Special Service Member in your Life!

*To be fair, I think Newfoundland (a province within Canada) recognizes Memorial Day, but the celebrations are combined with Canada Day celebrations on July 1st.

Sympathy in Pear Pizzaz

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Even though I'm currently on maternity leave, the weekends are still so sweet! My (big) boy always wakes up on Saturday morning with big eyes and excitement in his voice and says "it's Saturday? we get to spend all day together!!" It's incredibly endearing, and makes me long for Saturday mornings almost as much as when I was a kid.

However, while I long for Saturday mornings, I'm also overjoyed on Wednesday mornings because it means a new Freshly Made Sketch! :)

This is it... officially the 'last' of my Pear Pizzaz paper. Pear Pizzaz, I will miss you and your ambiguity. Were you a subtle? were you a bright?... you just always kept me guessing with each new colour combination I used you in.
