New card sketch at MDS Monday!

When I first started using MDS, I couldn't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to make a card with it (I know, not a great selling point, eh?).

But, the more I use it, the more I love making cards with it! I think it's great to make up a whole bunch of Thank You and Thinking of You... and even Christmas cards, just to have on hand in case of emergency. I'd say I make almost as many cards now as I do scrap pages.

I had a lot of fun with this card. It's super simple in design, but I love the colours and elements. Favourite embellishment these days? Staples.

Green and Yellow at Dynamic Duos!

Hello and welcome to the weekend!

This week at the Dynamic Duos, we're mixing up green and yellow! I was a little nervous as first, but it all worked out in the end.

I ran across a sketch online a few months ago, and this card is loosely based on that sketch. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it again to use as reference or to give credit.

I had a lot of fun with this card. It's a little bit different than I normally do, so it was great to mess around with. What do you think?

Flowers and Grunge at The Friday Mashup!

Good morning, friends!

Back at you with a new challenge over at The Friday Mashup. This week, Amy is hosting and she's got us working with our favourite things... and her favourite things - how fun!

I love playing along with tic-tac boards. This difficulty is I'm so noncommittal that I change my mind a million times. I finally settled on Pearls, Ribbon and Flowers.

I'll be completely honest, I was almost finished my card before I realized that I had no pearls, no ribbon and no flowers. I was focusing on my favourite thing, Gorgeous Grunge! I absolutely adore that set. So, I got cracking figuring out how to add all the other elements in.

I'm quite pleased with the results. Let's have a look at some of the other options (and don't forget to check out what the Design Team has come up with!)

Create a project using a "line from the grid"
1. Create a project with a "few of your Favorite things ( Stamps & Colors)".
2. Or Mash it Up and create a project using the "Tic Tac Toe grid with a few of your Favorite Things".

Swinging into fun at MDS Monday!

Wow - this post was supposed to be up a lot earlier! Ooops.

New challenge at MDS Monday this week. Holly is bringing us a great sketch with the added challenge of grouped photo fill. I had the perfect photo for this one:

I loved this moment at the park, and I love how the page turned out.

Pistachio Anniversary

This week at Dynamic Duos you get to pick your favourite coordinating colour (to go with Basic Gray). It's almost impossible to find a colour that doesn't go with Basic Gray, but I wanted to try and keep this on the 'manly' side, so I went with Pistachio Pudding.

I sanded down some Core'dinations paper and them cut it into little squares. Then I drew a dotted line between the squares to make a tic-tac-toe-like board. I found the sketch online awhile back but can't seem to find it again. I added the pearls to the popped-up hearts to imply that "I won"... a great husband! haha.

I gave this to Derek for our anniversary, which was on Tuesday. We went out for dinner, which was delicious, and then just hung out in the evening. It was quiet, but perfect.
