Too Cute to Spook for Colour Me...!

Well folks, it has been far too long since I posted on my blog. I've finally found my crafting mojo... Not too long ago, I ran into a friend of mine at my (somewhat) local craft store, and how unlikely it was since she's not even from here! Sharing in the excitement of new goodies and talking about techniques really got me inspired again.

One item I added to my stash is making an appearance on this card for the latest Colour Me...! challenge. I'm very quickly falling in love with distress inks.

This project started with this absolutely darling little witchy Wryn from Tiddly Inks. I didn't quite get the blend I wanted to on her robe, so I added some stars and sparkle with a white gel pen. Then I sat and stared for a few days before I could decide on the background!

I sketched out this little cauldron and was going to piece together a little scene, but decided instead that I'd add some distress inks to the pot and the background, and use my Copics to sketch in a little cobblestone ground.

Mother's Day for Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going striking and using Melon Mambo and Pear Pizzazz. These were perfect colours for a mother's day card. Not just any mother's day card... a card for the BEST mom ever :)

I started off with this fabulous digi stamp from Tiddly Inks... Orchid. The design of this stamp is amazing - I love that it not 'heavy' feeling, a dainty and balanced bunch of blossoms!

A double shot for Colour Me...!

It's one of those fun weeks at Colour Me...! where you get to choose what colour combination you'd like to work with, and play along with either 'Team Hayley' or 'Team Tara'.

I finally got a new printer that seems to like me. So far, we're off to a very, very good start. I think I see a 5th date on the horizon. What this means, is now I can print off all the digital stamps I want and just do nothing but colour all the time (without the horrid Copic-killing streaks I was getting with my old setup).

I didn't have the right Copics for this colour challenge at all, so it took a bit of fussing to combine colours to get the right shades I needed. If you're curious about the weird combinations in the supply list below, that's why!

Raindrops and Polka Dots at the Friday Mashup!

This week at The Friday Mashup Lisa has a very fitting challenge for us; Umbrellas and Polka Dots.

I'd like to say we've been getting a lot of spring rain here lately, and we sort of have... But they are also now calling for snow again, so I'm pretty much giving up on Spring altogether and looking forward to summer :)

I absolutely adore this sweet little Ducky Dance digi from Tiddly Inks. I coloured this one using my son's Crayola pencil crayons. 

He sees me digging through his drawer of art supplies and grab the baggy with a billion pencil crayons in it (3/4 of that billion are just doubles of ones he already has) - he says to me "are you borrowing those?" I say "Ya. Is that cool?" he says "Yes, but why aren't you using your Copics?!". I couldn't help but laugh. I told him variety was the spice of life, and then we got in a long discussion about what that means and how he doesn't like spices...

DT Call at Tiddly Inks!

If someone said to you, "Hey there! Quick, tell me your favourite Tiddly Inks stamp set!", what would you say? Exactly... with so many awesome images, it's so hard to pick just one! It's as if you were forced to pick only one colour from Chapman's Rainbow Sorbet!

I have to admit, I'm fairly new to Tiddly Inks. In fact, I'm new to almost everything outside of Stampin' Up! But let me tell you, after my first purchase, there was no stopping me. Here, in no particular order, are my favourites.

"Alice - Time for Tea" was an easy choice for me. I adore the story of Alice in Wonderland and pretty much snatch up everything I can that's even remotely related. I coloured Alice a little while ago and had set her aside for the perfect moment. A few days ago, I decided the 'perfect moment' would be the very first page of my new art/cardmaking/scrap journal.

Next up would be this lovely burst of autumn happiness, in the form of "Wryn's Leaves". Now tell me, does it get any cuter? I love her little furry friend getting in on the action as well.

And last, but certainly not least, the awesomeness that is Sweet Tooth "Dandy as Candy". Love at first sight - the possibilities are endless. Hey, she kinda reminds me of that sorbet!

Some exciting news and a dandy candy card!

I'm so excited to finally share some news! I was asked to created some projects for Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine blog using the fabulous Stampin' Up! set From the Garden and the equally awesome Handpicked framelit set (which can be conveniently bundled for savings!)

Playing along with a few challenges today!

I had a bit of extra time today and I wanted to play with some new goodies. I made two cards to play along with two challenges. Whoah!

The first is the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. After I cut my papers, I realized that I had to shift the sketch a bit to the left so you could still read the text around the moon. Oopsies!

I'm also linking this up to the Tiddly Inks challenge "All About the Boys!". I have recently come across Tiddly Inks and I'm SO excited! Such lovely images... I want them all.

The second card I made using the awesome colours from Color Throwdown.

I thought these colours were so darling! The background was made using Ranger distress stain in Faded Jean. Afterwards, I splashed a few drops of water on it to give it the dotted look. Reminds me of  a pair of jeans that had an accident with the bleach :)
