2014-2015 Catty Sneak Peek Week - Day#2!

This week I have the pleasure of being the hostess over at The Friday Mashup and I've decided to do something a little different. The challenge is to make a card or project with a movable/removable part to is and mash it up with some stripes!

My movable/removable part is the tear-away sentiment. I have fun using the Perforating Rotary Blade to cut a strip through the background (there are my stripes!) panel. Behind that, I stamped the sentiment in the lovely new In-Colour, Blackberry Bliss. 

I used the Crazy, Mixed Up Love set, eventhough it's retiring... I just love that set so much I couldn't help but use it one last time before I said goodbye.

The card is finished off with some Lost Lagoon satin ribbon (sneak peek!) and a piece of the lovely new DSP featuring another one of the In Colours, Hello Honey.

2014-2015 Catty Sneak Peek Week - Day#1!

Well friends, it's only a few short days until the brand new catalogue launches and I'm SO excited! For the next week I'll be sharing some little sneak peeks with you (a new creation each day!).

First up in this 'old meets new' creation, I have paired a brand new stamp set (which I am over-the-moon in love with), with some of our existing colours for the Colour Me...! challenge this week.

The background was created by sliding my Cajun Craze ink pad over the largest acrylic block and then pressing it into my cardstock. Fortunately for me, my table isn't the straightest, so the paper only picked up ink from certain spots giving the paper a worn/distressed look without overkill on the Craze!

The globe and suitcase are new additions to my stamp collection, as is that gorgeous, thick, yummy Brown Sugar twine!

White on White (on a bit of Sahara Sand)

Sara is our hostess this week at The Friday Mashup and she has a lovely challenge for us.

Our challenge was to create a project with trees and embossing (heat or dry). I chose to do a whole bunch of dry embossing! I saw these really funky trees at a store not too long ago, on some super awesome pillows... Unfortunately, the pillows didn't match my decor, so they didn't come home with me ;)

I embossed panels of Whisper White with various embossing folders and then cut them out freehand in different tree-like shapes. The pillow had patterned 'trees' and then solid circles in them, so I mimicked that with some un-embossed white circles.

The tree trunks were cut from a piece of Whisper White that I had stamped with the Hardwood background stamp. A little anniversary greeting was stamped at the top in Sahara sand.

This week at Colour Me...! we are going subtle and playing with Early Espresso, Primrose Petals and Soft Sky. With both a blue and a pink in the mix, this card could have gone either way! 

I started out with a piece of Whisper White and embossed it using the Decorative Dots embossing folder. I then sanded it down to give the dots a soft, fluffy look - kind of like Minky Dot fabric. I then matted on a piece of Soft Sky, and then again on a piece of Early Espresso, and then finally on the Primrose Petals card base. Some faux-stitching was added around the edge for more of a 'blanket' feel.

Project Life (yay!) for The Friday Mashup!

Lisa is our hostess over at The Friday Mashup this week and she has a great sketch for us to play with, as well as the added challenge of creating a 'get well' card. I don't have enough of these on hand so this was perfect!

I had so much fun using all the awesome new Project Life goodies! Stampin' Up! has partnered with Becky Higgins, the wonderful creator of Project Lift. I have been eyeing all the PL goodies at Michael's over the last little bit, so I was absolutely over the moon excited that it was coming to SU. I ordered a lot of it :) 

The background piece with the lines and pink heart is a sheet of DSP, I stamped a few extra black hearts around it to fill it up a bit. 

The rest of the papers are a combination of Everyday Adventure Project Life Card Collection. So many fun shapes of cards and such an awesome variety of patterns. It was difficult deciding what to choose :)

The stamps are from the Project Life Point and Click Photopolymer Set (excluding the "get well wishes" stamp which is from Teeny Tiny Wishes).

There is so much cool stuff in the Project Life suite, you absolutely have to check it out! If you're not a scrapbooker, that's OK! There is so much you can do with all the goodies you see!

Thinking of you at Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going striking and using Midnight Muse and Crushed Curry. I just love these colours together!

This actually started out as a masculine card, but quickly morphed into something a little more feminine.   I started with some Very Vanilla cardstock that I had lightly sponged around the edges and added a panel of Etcetera DSP matted with Crushed Curry.

Really, that's where it sat for some time! haha I just couldn't decide what to do with it. Finally, after much humming and hawing and testing and trying, I committed myself to Petite Petals with some Little Leaves. I love these two colours together!

Monochromatic Cherry Cobbler

This week at Colour Me...! we are playing with Cherry Cobbler. I love monochromatic week!

I used Regarding Dahlias for my card this week and kept it very simple in design and embellishment. I have to admit, the colouring did take some time!

I coloured the whole flower with a Blender Pen and some Cherry Cobbler ink - then I went back in with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Market and darkened every second line in the 'shaded' leaves. I won't lie, this took quite some time :) I was really happy with the results though!

I cheated a smidge and outlined the flower with some Pistachio Pudding for some depth.

Furniture Factory History for MDS Monday!

This week at MDS Monday, Holly has a great scrap layout for us.

I did a different type of project this week. I recently went to visit my mom who moved to a new city. One I've been to before, but have never explored and don't know much about. While I was waiting at the train station to go home, I saw this really old factory across the tracks. Fortunately, the name of the factory was still printing on the side of the building, so I could do some digging.

I did most of this page while I was on the train, before I even got home! Isn't technology fun? :)

I thought this would be the perfect page for the Downtown Grunge kit. I love this kit!

For the background, I used some fot he Downtown Grunge DSP, then added two separate overlays - one was the grunge look and the other was the grid. I felt it gave it a really 'old school' feel, and perfect for the subject.

This is why I love traveling by train!! You don't get to see all this fun stuff waiting in an airport terminal :)

It's Mario!

I'm just so excited to share my card for The Friday Mashup this week. I've finally made a card with the Mario set I carved using the Undefined set.

I've been waiting for the 'perfect' opportunity, and this week's challenge at FM from Holly IS perfect!

Mario, the star and the goomba are stamps I carved and then coloured. I fussy cut them and popped them up on some dimensionals. The pipe is just a few rectangles and some shading. The ground is done using the Adorning Accents edgelits and the clouds using the top of the cupcake punch!

I threw in some Daffodil Delight (for the star) and some Pacific Point (for Mario's suit)... They aren't part of the challenge, but they were absolutely necessary and they are shades of the challenge colours, so I thought I could slip them in under the radar ;)
