This week at MDS Monday, Beth has a great card sketch for us as well as an added challenge to recolour an embellishment.

For my card, I rotated the layout of the card but kept the layout of the sketch. These are small note cards, suitable for putting in orders as as thank you notes for hostesses!

Watercolour Easter for Friday Mashup!

Sara has a great challenge for us this week over at The Friday Mashup; She's got us watercolouring and use Wild Wasabi, Perfect Plum and Daffodil Delight. What wonderful spring colours!

I've used the Happy Watercolor set (yet again, I just can't get enough!). I coloured the flower in Perfect Plum with Blender Pen to give it a soft look. I finished off with a little twine bow and some sweet little white Designer Buttons.

Congratulations for Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going Striking and are using Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry.

I used the Simply Stars stamp set and stamped over a masked area. When I removed the mask, I drew horizontal lines across in Rich Razzleberry to block off a part for the sentiment. I chose the 'Congratulations' from Sweet Essentials.

Father's Day Fishy for Friday Mashup!

Time for a new challenge over at The Friday Mashup! This week Lisa has a fun challenge - nautical theme on a one-layer card!

Now, I've been told that this technically isn't a one-layer card because of the popped up pieces, but hey, I tried ;)

I first inked the fish stamp in Soft Sky, and before I stamped, I sponged around edges of the stamp with some Garden Green and stamped onto Whisper White. After that, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp on the fish again in Illuminate Ink to give the fish a shimmery look.

Colour Me... Wishful!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going subtle and using a 3-colour combo.

I wanted to create something really soft. I have a thing for feathers, so I stuck with a light feather/leaves theme.

When I first saw the Fine Feathers set in the catalogue, I fell in love. I knew it was going to be top of my list. The feathers are all so unique and cool looking. I also knew I wanted to use the Needlepoint Border embossing folders. I haven't used them yet (can you believe it!) and I've had them forever now. with those two "knowns" and the beautiful colour combo, this card came together rather quickly.

For the feathers, I inked up the stamp with soft sky. Before stamping, I sponged lightly around some of the edges of the stamp with Coastal Cabana, then I stamped down on Whisper White and cut them out. I love the two-tone look!

Lots of Love for MDS Monday

Good morning! It's time for a brand new MDS Monday challenge. Holly has a great card sketch for us this week with the added challenge of changing the colour of some DSP.

I decided to make a card for my anniversary (which isn't for awhile, but it will give me some time to procrastinate on printing! haha).

The background layer is DSP with a Very Vanilla square punch overtop. Then I pulled the opacity down a bit to around 85%. I applied an overlay, but didn't resize from the 12x12 size, just aligned it so the larger image would take up most of the background. I dropped the opacity on that as well.

I recoloured some of the Chantilly trim and layered on some of my favourite papers.

Rainbows for The Friday Mashup!

Good Friday morning,

This week at The Friday Mashup Heidi has a fun, colourful challenge for us. As St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner, Heidi would like to see some rainbows in our projects!

I started out with a strip of Soft Sky cardstock and punched out 8 chevrons using the Chevron Punch. Then I cut chevrons out of 8 different colours (Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Pacific Point, Island Indigo and Elegant Eggplant).

Once all those were cut out, I inlayed them into the open slots on the banner. It came out looking so cool (if you ask me!). I reinforced the back with another banner, to make sure the chevrons didn't pop out, but the hold was quite amazing actually!

Finished off with the hardwood background stamp embossed in white and a few little rhinestones.

Bookmarks for Colour Me...!

My son is really enjoying reading these days. His favourite is the Geronimo Stilton series and has a few of them on the go. I thought it might be fun to whip him up some cute little bookmarks with this week's Colour Me...! colours.

I started out with 2" strips in both Midnight Muse and Tangerine Tango. I punched the tops with the Scalloped Tags Topper Punch. The background on the white panel is the Dictionary background stamp. The images are from the Cool Kid stamp set in the Occasions catalogue. I just love the Cool Kid stamp set! What a great combination of fun sayings and playful images for little munchkins!

Fun tidbit... My boy might be a "cool kid", but his mom sure has some issues! haha. Yes, that's right, I stamped it upside down. Not once, but twice. Yup, twice! ;)

I... am... Iron Man!

Good morning!

This week at MDS Monday Tami has a great sketch and challenge for us! We're using film strips (so fun!) and she even has a video tutorial to help you along. Awhile back I used a film strip theme to do a page for my sons birthday - it was much easier this time around for some reason ;)

Our kids like to get dressed up in costumes. We have a wide variety of super heroes and movie characters for them to choose from, but Jackson always picks Iron Man. One day, he was all dressed up with the mask on and we said "Oh no! It's Iron Man", and he lifted up the mask with a big cheeky smile and said "NO! It's JackJack".

Green with... Love!

This week at Colour Me...! we are rocking the monochromatic looks using Old Olive. Be sure to check out all the Design Team cards - there is so much variation! While you're there, you can say hi to our Featured Designer for February; Michelle Bala :)

I kept it really simple this week with a one-layer card. I started with a Whisper White card base and masked a large oval. I sponged around the edges with Old Olive and before taking the mask off, I stamped En Francais on the background.

After I remove the mask, I did some paper-piercing around the edge. The heart and the sentiment are both from the Best of Love set. I just adore that heart!
