When it got time to making this card, I was looking for some colour inspiration. I turned to the best place I know for great colour combos.... My Little Pony! I know what you must be thinking... :) But seriously, ever had a look at this little guys? They are very visually appealing. I chose the colours from this one:

Her name is Twilight Sparkle, so I thought the sentiment was perfect.

Best Wishes for Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going Playful and using Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry, Tangelo Twise and Daffodil Delight.

I have to admit, 4 brights on 1 card is tough for me! I needed a male birthday card on hand, and although these colours don't immediately say "hey, I'm perfect for a masculine card!", I think they work pretty well.

K is for Kindness... And Koala :)

Good Monday morning!

Today I'm super excited to share with you my little friend Harrison. The past few months I've been seriously thinking about drawing my own images for my cards. So, I started with this little guy. He's Harrison, and he likes to play dress-up :)

I'm hoping to eventually move into the digitally stamping world, but for now I'm enjoying just doodling away and using the images on my own cards.

I used the I Am Me Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! (There is still some on the clearance rack if you love it and want to pick some up). Harrison in his Koala suit was traced with Pigma Micron marker. I have the original image stored (which was first draw with pencil and then cleaned up with marker) and I just trace it when I need it.

He was coloured in with Copics and Stampin' Up Blendabilities:

• Koala costume: Copics - C1, C3, C5, C7, W4, 0 (for the ear, belly and nose fur)
• Face: SU Blendabilities - Ivory, Nude and Blush
• Hair: SU Blendabilities - Daffodil Delight
• Outline: Copics - C1

I need to keep practicing with drawing, colouring, etc... but I'm hoping this turns into something regular :)

Baby Announcement for The Friday Mashup!

This week I'm hosting over at The Friday Mashup and I went with a colour combo and a baby theme.

I went with a very simple design and made these quick 1-layer baby announcements. I used Stampin' Up! Blendabilities to colour them in and Copics for the bottom/ground.

Kick up yer heels for Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going retro subtle and using Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze and Hello Honey. 

I used the Bootiful Occasions stamp set (oh, how I love this fun set!) and added some rustic elements. The background is Mossy Meadow ink stamped on Mossy Meadow cardstock sing the Hardwood background stamp. 

For the boot, I stamped it on Hello Honey and Cajun Craze cardstock. I fussy cut out the heel/toe and the top of the boot from the Cajun Craze and sponged it lightly. I sponged the Hello Honey boot as well to give them some dimension.

Triple Time for Friday Mashup

At The Friday Mashup we are playing with flowers and the triple time stamping technique! So fun.

I decided to do a side-step card for this one - it didn't leave a lot of room for the triple time technique though!

For the picket fence, I stamped the hardwood stamp on Soft Sky paper with Soft Sky ink to make it very subtle.

Sweet Friend for Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going striking and using Pacific Point and Real Red. Fun!

I went minimalist on this one this week. I've seen so many people do awesome creamsicle elements (or whole cards!) and I figured even though I'm late to the game, it would be fun to play anyway!

I trimmed the corners with the Project Life Corner Punch by Stampin' Up!. Then I took the 'bite' out with the scallop circle. I did layer a white scallop underneath, but hadn't decided at that point to put it on a white background, so it gets lost a little in the photo.

For the grooves in the creamsicle, I used the Word Window punch out as a mask and sponged lightly around it. The little face was made using the circles from the Cupcake Punch from Stampin' Up! and the blacks are from the 1/8" handheld punch. A sweet sentiment and some bling finish it off.

Mix and Match Shapes for Friday Mashup!

Happy Friday!

It's been really cold around here lately. Really, really cold. I've been spending a lot of time in my little craft room to keep warm!

I have to admit, I didn't really do the technique exactly as I was supposed to. I couldn't get it to work for me the way I was expecting it too. I compromised and inked up my embossing folder with white StazOn in and then ran it through the embossing folder. 

I don't tend to do black card bases, so this was kind of fun to do. 

The papers (with all my mix and matched shapes) comes from the Project Life pocket card kit from Stampin' Up! I just love the colours and patterns in these papers. 

The sentiment is one that came from a Paper Pumpkin kit and I embossed it in white.

"fun ride" for Freshly Made Sketches

It has been absolutely forever since I played along with a challenge! I had a clean desk, some extra mojo and a free night... so I had fun with my new Copic markers and this great little scooter/moped thingy from Stampin' Up!

Well, this is new territory for me! This is my first time colouring with Copic markers. I have a lot to learn, but I had fun breaking them in. Now I need to go out and buy more. Every. Single. Colour. 

I played along with the great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

Latte Thanks for Colour Me...!

Over the holidays some dear friends of ours were in town visiting family, and we were able to sneak in a visit with them as well. My friend had brought me this super-duper SimonSaysStamp set, What's Brewing, and I couldn't wait to try it out :)

I put a little extra effort into the coffee cup, but the rest of it is pretty basic. 

First, I stamped Perfect Plum cardstock with white StazOn ink using this awesome chevron stamp from a past Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin kit. I love digging through those stamps! You always find something cool.

Then I stamped the mug again on just plain Perfect Plum cardstock, and then once more on Sahara Sand cardstock. I supposed I could have just coloured the mug, but this seemed like more fun ;)

Once I had all pieces stamped, I cut out sections and pieced them back together using the mug stamped on the white cardstock as a base.

The reason for doing this is that I wanted the outside of the mug to have a pattern, but the inside of the mug to be solid purple - and of course the coffee. 

The coffee steam was stamped in Sahara Sand, as well as part of the sentiment. I added a few Frosted Sequins from Stampin' Up! as the final touch.

Ready for the snow at The Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup, Heidi has us embracing the winter season, without thinking about the holidays. Basically, we are celebrating winter!

I kind of worked this card a bit backwards. Typically I start with the focal point and work my way to the card base. This time, I started with the card base and added layers upwards to the house.

For the house, I started by roughing up a piece of Smoky Slate Core'dinations cardstock. I didn't want to colour the house with markers, as I wanted it to be light and textured. I like the effect of the sanded Core'dinations! I wiped it down to make sure all the loose bits were removed and then I stamped the house from Holiday Home.

The windows, door and roof were fussy cut and glued on to the Smoky Slate. I coloured the roof and door with Night of Navy Blendabilities by Stampin' Up! I added a little yellow glow to the windows as well.
