Happy Easter!

Good morning, and a very happy Easter to those of you who celebrate it!

I've got a very non-traditional Easter card to show today for Sunday Stamps. But something about it still reminded me of Easter. This week, I took the sketch, shrunk it down and used it as a panel on my card. I grabbed some DSP from the Tea for Two DSP pack that was perfect for the sketch and went to town.

I embellished with my very last scraps of Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral ruffled ribbon, some Linen Thread and a Builder Brad. I punched out a flower from another piece of the DSP and layered that under the little epoxy top that the Builder Brads come with. I just LOVE these brads.

Tax Time?!

Seriously? Tax time? Heidi's got us thinking about taxes! But before you run off with your calculator, take some time to mash it up!

"A" is for Art

"B" is for Boat

and "C" is apparently for... "Gry"

Yup, that's right, I used the G instead of the C. And it was very appropriate because I was almost C is for Crying after I made the mistake. 

I wasn't about to start over again, so instead I just used the G for Duck as well and hoped that no one would notice. That was a fail! Both my hubby and my little man called me out on it.

But, aside from the very blatant error (hey, it's a tax theme, isn't it? What are taxes without some errors?), I find these little tags to be adorable. 

A is for Art:

A little strip of scrap Canvas Creations with a frayed edge tucked in behind and some faux stitching

B is for Boat:

Stitched Satin Ribbon peaking out and some torn cardstock as a corner accent.

C is for Gry:

A spelling error and some Natural Trim ribbon tied up with some Linen Thread

D is for Dugk:

Fun little banners and a sweet bow to top it off.

The lined paper I used is from the Storytime DSP. I distressed the edges with the new distressing tool, sponging, colour spritzing, crumpling and corner-turning-up (again, tax time, you're allowed to make stuff up... right?). Also, the little rectangles with the the writing on them is from this pack as well, I simply just cut them out and popped them up!

2. Create a project that has a "Distressed appearance".
3. Or Mash it Up and create a project with "Lined paper that's Distressed looking".

Spring has sprung...

Yes, it's officially spring, and over at Sunday Stamps Joan has a great spring-inspired colour combination for us. It's still cold and there's still a snow here - so I had a hard time thinking "spring"... I went under water instead :)

I just love this stamp set! It's so fun and easy to use.

2 out of 3 ain't bad!

It's time for another Friday Mashup, and Holly' got a triple challenge for you this week - The sketch, butterflies and your brayer! 

Unfortunately, I don't own a brayer, so I focused on the sketch and the butterflies. I wanted to add something a little extra to this card since I couldn't do that brayer part.

I layered a piece of Fan Fair DSP on another piece of vellum, which I had (tried to) distress. Just as an FYI , distressing vellum is a lot harder than you might think! Once these pieces were on my card base, I cut out an oval with the new Oval Framelits and then layered a Window Sheet behind it. On the inside of the card, I layered another piece of Vellum and heat embossed the oh-so-awesome flowers from Elements of Style in Pool Party. 

The sentiment is from Apothecary Art, and is Pool Party heat embossing on Vullem. The butterflies are punched out using the Elegant Butterfly punch and then embossed with the Polka Dot embossing folder. They are layered on another sheet of the Fan Fair DSP.

A Sunday Stamps Sketch

Good morning, friends! Happy St. Patrick's Day :)

You would think given then I'm mostly Irish, and it's St. Patrick's Day, I would have a Patty's day card to share - but that's not the case. I had a birthday card with some retired product! haha

I had the immense pleasure of taking my son on a trip to visit his grandma and while I was there I played around with her goodies. There's such a joy (and a challenge!) creating with other people's stuff. When I sit down in my craft room, I know everything I have, where it is, and I almost envision a card before I even touch anything!

Anyway, here it is! It features some retired product - an old SAB stamp set, and the Pear Pizzaz colour - but I couldn't resist.

Digital Chalkboard Technique!

Good morning!

Amy has such a fun challenge for us at The Friday Mashup this week! She's got us playing around with a couple stamp sets and trying out the chalkboard technique. I wanted to try doing a digital project with that technique, so here we have it;

I absolutely adore the Back to School ensemble - Almost everything in this page is from that kit. As for the chalkboard element itself, I pulled just about every school themed stamp set I could!

Sent with Love

Stopping in for a quick post today to show off the new challenge at Sunday Stamps.

It's been a busy couple of weeks, with some major ups and downs. But, time moves forward, and I'm excited to share this page of my little boy and his first experience on an airplane.

I thought the Sent with Love digital kit would be perfect for this page, but the colours didn't match the challenge colours - so I recoloured them. What a great feature in MDS2 :)
